National Science Congress:
Ms. Priyanka Sachdeva & Muskan Chhabra of class X of Manav Sthali School visited Germany for a fellowship for their project titled “Structural Engineering for Earthquake Resistance Buildings with Simultaneous Production of Electricity” on 19th April 2001 for ten days.
Muskan & Priyanka had participated in the VIII National Science Congress held in Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur, West Bengal.
It is a matter of great honour that the project was selected amongst 620 projects presented all over India held under the aegis of National Children’s Science Congress, Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India. In Germany, the students visited Max Planck Institute & Siemens Laboratory at Berlin & got an opportunity to present their project.
This project was also a chosen few to have been displayed at the Indian National Science Congress held at National Physical Laboratory, Pusa Institute, New Delhi from 3rd to 7th January 2001 which was inaugurated by Former Honorable Prime Minister Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Before departure to Germany, the students also got an opportunity to meet Mr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Former Minister of HRD, who appreciated their efforts.
To develop & nurture the scientific temper amongst the students, the children from the school have always been provided with stimulating atmosphere to participate in Inter School Science Competitions held at both State & National levels. The school science club has many laudable achievements to its credit. Our project titled “Energy for Today” & “Human Estate Manchester” organized by NCERT held at Chennai & Bhubnaseshwar were selected at the National level. In the competitions “Red Rover Goes To Mars” held in January 2001 conducted by Indian Space Research Organization, Bangalore on behalf of Planetary Society, USA in collaboration with JPL & NASA, USA to select student scientists. Ms. Priyanka received an appreciation certificate while Ms. Muskan entered the semifinal of the National Student Navigator Category & was invited to visit ISRO, Bangalore while another student Prateek Thukrals Essay was selected regionally in the commendable category.
The tremendous success achieved by the students of the school had proved that the right education & proper training, the unhold potential of a child can be enhanced & varnished to the best use of mankind for our own benefit, to any unprecedented challenge faced by us.
